Little Swanport - Rehabilitation Project

At the river mouth of Little Swanport lies a vast and ecologically significant area, home to a variety of threatened flora and fauna. This unique landscape holds special importance as it serves as a seasonal haven for many migratory birds from the Northern Hemisphere.

Situated on Tasmania’s beautiful east coast, this land — once a working sheep farm — is now being transformed into a thriving salt marsh. I am replanting it with endemic vegetation in an effort to restore its natural habitat and ecological balance.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe refuge for both birds and marsupials, encouraging biodiversity and supporting the region’s delicate ecosystems. This transformation has been made possible thanks to the support and care of my peers, my family, and the invaluable guidance of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy.
